working deeper in 2018

03 January 2018 |

Last week, as I completed my yearly review, I came face to face with the fact that much of my work isn’t exactly deep work.

That’s not to mean that it’s not important. It is. This work is essential for my clients; it’s why they hire me. It is straightforward for me to improve my systems and processes, improving my efficiency which will lead to cost savings for my clients. That task began over the past few days and I’ll begin implementing it for clients in the coming weeks.

I also realized that the way I was working was one that allowed for quite a bit of attention residue to stick around and keep me from being as productive and attentive as I wish. Part of that is the way I crafted my schedule in the aftermath of this summer’s upheaval. I’ve started making small changes to address this.

toward sustainable deeper work

What does all of this mean for my wish to work deeper in this new year?

While the majority of my current clients know and hire me specifically for website configuration and management, there are other reasons to engage me. Therefore, I am revising my services page and drafting my content calendar to help support what I offer. Subscribers to my newsletter will be among the first to benefit from these changes.
